Campus Pack Podcasts

A Podcast Feed is a series of audio and/or video files. A Podcast episode is one audio or video file. 

 

Add a Campus Pack Podcast Feed to your course site in Blackboard. To add a single audio or video file, choose Campus Pack Podcast Episode. 

 

Add the Title for the Feed and decide whether it will be a grade activity or not. 

 

Add an episode to the Campus Pack Podcast Feed to begin. 

 

There are several ways to add media to a Campus Pack podcast feed.

Subscribe to a Podcast using iTunes (Public Feeds)

 

The first way to is to create audio directly in Campus Pack using the audio recorder. Choose the Record Audio radio button. If a dialog box appears requesting permission for an applet to run, accept the request. 

 

 

Recording audio in Campus Pack is extremely easy. A recorded welcome message is a great way to begin an online class. Audio instructions are helpful to students at many points in an online or a face-to-face class. 

 

 

The text editor is a place to upload transcripts, slideshows, supplemental information or instructions to begin a discussion using the comment area of the podcast. 

 

Use dates to pre-load content and release it according to a date on the calendar. 

 

A podcast recorded in Campus Pack and ready for consumption by students. 

 

Every site in Campus Pack has a private RSS feed that can be used by students to subscribe to the Podcast Feed. By default, RSS feeds are private feeds and may not be able to be subscribed to in every Podcatcher or RSS Reader.

 

Changing the Viewing Permissions on the Podcast Feed to include "Everyone in the World" creates a public RSS feed making subscription to the Podcast Feed much easier. 

 

Media, audio and video (mp4 and m4v) recorded offline can be uploaded to a podcast feed. 

 

Add a New Episode and Choose Upload Media as the option for including media in the Course Podcast. Select the file to be uploaded.

 

Video can be included in a podcast feed or episode. Uplaoded video can be viewed inline and also included in the podcasts subscription making it viewable directly in iTunes. 

 

Link to audio and video content to include as part of a Podcast Feed or an Episode. 

 

Choose Link to External Media for the Media type. 

 

 

Add the link to the dialog box. 

 

Include any supplemental content in the text editor area.

Subscribe to Podcasts. Users can subscribe to Campus Pack Podcasts using any Podcatcher software or using their iTunes account. Private Feeds with require authentication (username and password) and may not be supported by all software. Public Feeds, viewable to everyone in the world, are easy to subscribe to using iTunes, which is publicly available and many students already use. 

 

Content will download to iTunes and can be reviewed when it is convenient for the user. 

Students can add comments in Campus Pack to any episode added. Campus Pack Podcasts allow audio and video to become an engaging, interactive part of any Blackboard course with easy to use tools.
